It was a very sad day Monday when I heard the news. I'm a former Aloha family member and I can't even find the words for my sadness to my Aloha Ohana. But, we're all strong and diverse people who will find a way too make it work and help each other.

To the Aloha Ohana,

I wanted to express my heartfelt sympathies to the Aloha employees for your sudden loss of jobs - sympathy not only for employment but, also the loss of a state icon. I am a long time employee of Hawaiian Airlines and this hits very close to home on so many levels, not just for me but for many, many of my co-works. Although I don’t personally know anyone at Aloha…all of us at least know someone who does.

Whether it is by blood, marriage or association, our shared histories (the good, the bad and the ugly) are forever intertwined like a typical sibling rivalry. We have always been much more than competitors, we share a culture and a special place we call home. We may have fought hard at times but, as locals…when the chips are down, we love even harder.

It is my (our) hope that during this time of difficult change, you will find the strength needed to move forward and know that you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

God Speed,
Your Hawaiian Brothers and Sisters
